Four Weddings and a Funeral

Y'know, it's hard enough to get thru a conversation about living in Arkansas without discussing the legalities of marrying one's cousin, which then gets the old "I am my own uncle" joke. (See the musical selections next door.) Now, we get to answer questions about baby brides, as well.

As the father of four girls, it's been tempting to pawn them off to anyone who will take them. I better be careful about that, now. I just might get taken up on the offer.

Actually marrying ones cousin (which is legal in several states)is only genetic problem if it happens generation after generation (which helps describe the current state of the Arab world). A single marriage between cousins amidst hundreds of marriages isn't going to hurt anything. The strain it puts on the rest of the family is the real problem.

I am aware of one young lady -- about 18 -- who will probably be a major recording star in the next couple of years whose mother and father were first cousins and I have seen videos of her singing and she is very promising. Her late aunt (her father's sister) is singing legend.

In high school a good buddy of mine dated his second cousin. He was a perfectly normal guy, and we couldn't understand what he was thinking, until we saw the girl.

She was really hot.

While we still thought it was kind of gross, it was hard to fault the guy. I mean, she was pretty hot.
